These are the times I pray . . . . a LOT!

Yesterday was more than challenging for me!  This little one pictured above was in rare form!  We went to an activity on base and she threw herself on the ground IN FRONT OF CHRISTOPHER'S BOSS and started crying!  I made a comment about her getting that from her father and he just laughed (Thanks Al, you kept me from crying)  I wanted to melt into a million pieces as I felt like everyone was staring at me!  She wasn't understanding why she couldn't bounce with the other kids but they were twice her size and knew she would end up hurt!  I found something to distract her but then another fit came when we had to leave . . . . BREATHE KIM, BREATHE!

We went to dinner last night with some of the guys from base and things were going well!  I packed crayons, squinkies and even her ipod.  When she couldn't find her Daddy . . . HOLY COW!  Of course we were surrounded by my husbands co-workers AGAIN and there she sat, crying as I was right in the middle of feeding Emma!  We didn't stay much after that fit but came home and wanted to cry!  But wait . . . I am NOT the only Mother on earth so why do people look at me like I am crazy, right along with my screaming toddler!  Lend a hand, give a hug, something, just don't stare at me like I don't know how to do my job (even when at these times, I question myself)

oh Kimmy!!! ((hugs))

Umm, just remember - I have a 13yo and a 10yo who both through "fits" for lack of a better term, usually at the most inopportune time. At the very least, they let the whine monster out when they're not getting their ways... and they are far older than Isabell.

We all have our bad days.... even kids!

Breathe, hug that sweet darling, and know that you are not the first, nor will you be the last, to have your child do that out in public :)

((hugs)) Happy Days!

I'm so sorry Kim. Can I just tell you that has happened to me... Aiden has thrown a fit and completely and utterly embarrassed me and folks just looked at me like I had the plague. Hugs to you from a mom that understands!! :)

Kim, you are doing a fantastic job as a mom. Nothing you wrote about is out of the ordinary for any mom. Believe me when I say, by the time the third one comes along, you learn to tune out the meltdowns (even while in the midst of grocery shopping!) The screaming strangely becomes something you can become immune too or even laugh at....the looks, well...who cares! It would be abnormal to have a child who did not have meltdowns and it would be abnormal to be a mom who sometimes does all she can not to have a meltdown right there alongside of her toddler! In my recent blog post I admitted to having to lock myself in a timeout not once, but two days in a row just last week (and mine are 2,7 and 8!) Its always more challenging when your kids are young...especially when you have a baby in the midst. I remember when brooke was born (her and Brayden are 19 months apart) I had two in cribs, two in diapers...life was chaotic...but good and precious none the less. I know you already take time to focus on the gifts in life. Allow yourself those moments of almost breaking too. Youre only human, and it will get easier. You have a lot going on and you are handling it mighty well! Praying for you and your family. Much love to you!
