Bittersweet Day!

I received a call from my First Sergeant this morning stating that my separation paperwork had FINALLY been signed off by the General and that it was time to get everything else rolling.  I requested to separate from the military back in March right after Chris got home and I would have done it right after Isabell was born but I had too many mixed emotions at that point and really needed some guidance from my husband.  I joined the United States Air Force on July 17, 2005 and the military was EXACTLY what I needed in my life.  I was not living a very meaningful life back then and needed to feel like I was making a difference in this world.  I wasn't going to be someone that was stuck at the desk forever so I joined Security Forces, something no one ever saw me doing.

If I hadn't joined the military I would have never met my best friend, the love of my life, my husband!
The good ol days working security on the ramp!!
There was a problem with one of the offices having my paperwork prepared (SHOCKER) so I didn't get everything done today but I did go in and empty out my work locker and turn in some stuff to supply.  My heart hurt and I had to fight back tears as I was walking out with my bags.  I have met a lot of great people and have learned so much about life and about myself.  I know without a doubt in my mind that this is something that I really need to do at this point in my life.  I am not going to continue to wear a uniform just for a paycheck, my heart is telling me to focus on my family so that is what I am doing.  TONS of people have something to say about me separating from the military and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I just don't care what you heartless people have to say.  Becoming a mother has changed my heart . . . SO THERE!

Hanging up the uniform and picking up the diaper bag!!

You have to do what you feel is right for you and your family Kim, don't let what anyone has to say bother you. You are at peace with your decision and that is all that matters! :)

separating from the navy was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I miss it every day, but I love being a Mommy even more!

Well done Kim. As long as your heart is right before God, you and your husband your decision can't be wrong :) Thank you for your service, to me and my country!
You're still in the military...just by marriage. To me, that's ALL in!
