Our appointment

I just got home from yet another doctor's appointment to get the results from some tests that we had done last week. It seems that everything is good to go with both of us and so now we move on to step 2 and 3 at the same time. I am currently taking Clomid (a drug that works by stimulating an increase in the amount of hormones that support the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation)) and will continue to take it for a few months and they are also scheduling an hysterosalpingogram (HSG) (an X-ray of the uterus and fallopian tubes which allows visualization of the inside of the uterus and tubes. The picture will reveal any abnormalities of the uterus as well as tubal problems such as blockage and dilation (hydrosalpinx). If the tubes are not blocked by scar tissue or adhesion's, the dye will flow into the abdominal cavity. This is a good sign but it does not guarantee that the tubes will function normally. It does give a rough estimate of the quality of the tubal structure and the status of the tubal lining. Some cases where the tubes appear to be blocked where they join the uterus, may in fact be normal. Often blockage at this location may be due to spasm of the opening from the uterus into the tube or from accumulated debris and mucus blocking the opening. This can be managed by passing a very thin catheter into the fallopian tube either at the time of hysterosalpingogram or during a hysteroscopic procedure. Generally there is no special preparation needed for this test. However, depending upon your diagnosis, you may need to take antibiotics to guard against possible infection. A small catheter is placed into the cervix and the dye is injected. You may experience heavy cramping during, and for several hours following this procedure. Any dye that remains will be absorbed without any ill effect).

I have had some female problems in the past so they want to rule everything out NOW! Sometimes it not easy to turn your life over to God completely, but he is the one that makes these decisions for us so now it's up to him. We both believe that God will direct us . . . we are listening.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 13 it states:

“Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm: at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.”

I too have been through all of these tests and trials, not exactly with the results that I had planned for, but please know that I am praying for a good result for the both of you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

P.S.-Jeremiah 29:11 is the verse that keeps me going everyday. I keep telling myself He knows what He is doing, just be patient and keep your faith!

Having walked the path you're on, I will be praying for you as you begin clomid and have the HSG done...we also did both of those.

Even though you know the truth (that God is in control and that He sees and that He knows and that He loves you and wants good things for you), I realize that it can still be so hard to let those truths be the reality in life when your heart is aching.

I don't know if you're interested but I've written a little bit about our journey in my blog. Maybe something I've written will be an encouragement to you. Let me know if you want my blog address and I'll email it to you privately.

Brandon and I will be praying for your heart to be at peace as you walk this path that He's chosen for you.
